VACANCY

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, TOURISM AND AGRICULTURE DIRECTORATE

 

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: URBAN AGRICULTURE

(URBAN AGRICULTURE)

POSITION CODE: 180031

TASK Grade 16 (R541 740 – R753 168 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

Requirements:

 

  • Tertiary qualification, i.e. Agricultural Science Degree or equivalent.
  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Valid Code B Driver’s Licence.
  • Computer literacy – MS Office applications.

 

Competencies:

 

  • Report-writing skills.
  • Strong planning and strategic thinking skills.
  • Good negotiation, analysis, co-ordination and interpersonal skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.

 

Job purpose:

 

Managing and directing the key performance areas and outcomes of the Urban Agriculture Branch through developing a Sector strategic plan; Designing, developing and implementing agricultural programmes and projects; economic development of emerging farmers within the Crop, Animal Production and Economic Market and Finance Sub-Sectors of the Urban Agriculture Sector of the Metro; Establishing a network of liaison with stakeholders and role-players; Directing the economic development of emerging farmers through training, capacitation and funding to alleviate poverty; |Managing subordinates; Performing administrative functions for the accomplishment of service delivery objectives encapsulated in the Integrated Development Plan.

 

 

 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
