VACANCY

ELECTRICITY & ENERGY DIRECTORATE

MANAGER: TECHNICAL (METERING)

(TECHNICAL: METERING)

POSITION CODE: 240415

TASK Grade 14 (R592 296 – R823 452 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Four to five years’ relevant experience.
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.

Key attributes and competencies:

  • Must be physically fit and healthy and able to perform manual operations and duties on foot.
  • Speech and hearing ability and ability to identify colour-coded cabling. (An eye test for colour blindness is required.)
  • Supervisory and coordination skills.
  • Financial and administration skills.
  • Report-writing and communication skills.

Special conditions attached to the post:

May be required to work overtime and render standby duties in emergency situations when necessary.

Job purpose:

Responsible for supervising, coordinating, and controlling the Metering Services Section for the purposes of ensuring accurate measurements of electrical energy and power consumed in the area in order to bill consumers.

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.

Fringe benefits will include membership of a Retirement Fund, Medical Aid Scheme, Group Life Assurance Scheme, participation in a Housing Subsidy and Car Schemes (subject to the conditions of the various Schemes), and normal leave and sick leave benefits.

SAFETY & SECURITY DIRECTORATE 

FIRE SAFETY OFFICER

(FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES)

POSITION CODE: 240366

TASK Grade 10 (R368 808 – R512 736 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent (National Higher Certificate in Fire Technology).
  • Up to three years’ experience in professional Fire Services.
  • Registered as a Peace Officer.
  • Valid Code EC driver’s licence with PrPD (Professional Driving Permit).

Key attributes and competencies:

  • Must have a good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, as well as other applicable legislation to Fire and Emergency Services.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet critical/conflicting deadlines.
  • Incumbent must be physically fit and able-bodied.
  • Must have good presentation, report-writing skills.
  • Will be required to perform firefighting and rescue services in terms of Standard Operating Procedures and applicable legislation.
  • Will be required to be on standby for work.

Job purpose:

Creating awareness and enforcing compliance with Fire Safety legislation and providing advice on preventative measures to the public.
